U8 Honeys Match Report

Leam Rangers Vs Hebburn Town Honeys U8s
Saturday 15th KO 09:00 am

Cold winds greeting the girls at Leam lane in the early KO but this didn't affect them in the slightest and you could see the joy in their faces during the warm up.

Chloe took the gloves in the first half and was needed a couple of times in the early minutes but Hebburn never seemed troubled as defensively the girls are solid and with Eve and Elisha linking up so well they just create chance after chance.

⚽️ Elisha is sharp as they come and can sense a chance so it wasn't long before she hit the net for her first goal and ran off with what looked like a trademark celebration.
⚽️ Elisha soon got her second with a solid strike but it was her third goal that stood out for me.
⚽️ Emma picked up the ball on the right and breaks through midfield with a quality run. She dribbles to the touch line and pulls back a lovely ball to find Elisha arriving to finish hard and low. Great movement from Elisha to see Emma heading down the right and knowing to get into the box. That's what made the goal stand out for me.

Leam picked up a fluke of a goal in the first half with a huge bounce over the keeper but that would have beaten most keepers at this age so I wouldn't even blink at that goal.
The first half finished 1-3 to Hebburn and they are in full control.

Elisha went in goal for the second half and didn't seem troubled at all as the honeys defended very well again.
Emma seems very good at reading the play and looks so comfortable on the ball, this helps the team play up the pitch more as her control builds confidence around her when in possession.
⚽️ Chloe breaks out of her own half with the ball and makes a lovey run dribbling through the middle, she gets to the touch line and squares it to Sofia who's on hand to place the ball in the net from close range. 1-4 Another quality goal with great teamwork again, the desire from Sofia to get in the box is fantastic and she is rewarded with a good goal.
⚽️ Chloe again picks up the ball in the middle and works herself some space and finished into the bottom corner. 1-5
⚽️ Emma, who has played very well today, takes a well deserved goal after picking up the ball on the left, she makes her own space and finishes her chance well. 1-6
Chances are still being made with Evie getting her shots off and Emma making chances from nothing.
⚽️ Chloe intercepts the play, picks up the ball and runs through to goal 1v1, finishes in some style with a flick off the outside of her right foot into the right hand corner. 1-7 What a finish. So calm in front of goal and great skill.

Game ends and the girls are so happy to take the win. They dominated today and were still over the moon to win with nothing took for granted in their minds.

Chloe and Evie are so strong together and give nothing away.
Olivia, Ava and Lexi worked really hard today and broke up the play all game.
Elisha took a great hat trick in the first half and she made it look so easy, she's a natural in front of goal and has a sweet left foot. She takes her chances with accuracy and power, goal keepers are going to have problems with this one as she grows and gets stronger.
Evie is so comfortable on the ball and loves to take on players.
Emma plays with confidence and skill, she has a cracking shot on her with a lot of power.

I was so pleased to get the chance to watch the U8's today. These little ones have been building a reputation lately so I was so pleased to see them perform.
They have the making of a team that can dominate their league as they grow and develop together. The focus and desire was so good to see and I have to say I was very impressed, mostly by the quality of the football being played. These girls didn't just kick and chase the ball, they had a purpose to what they were doing and look like a team far beyond their young age. The match was played at such a fast pace and the level of ball control at that pace is again impressive.
These girls are definitely going places and the focus needs to be on developing them together as a team, there is some outstanding talent in the team and as they grow and new players come in the team will benefit from that core of players. This team would be exciting for any manager to have and seeing how Brian and Dave are with them it's easy to see how they are are all enjoying the journey.

Great result girls. Keep up the hard work and enjoy your games.

My GoTG - Emma, a very controlled performance and made some great runs in possession. Her assist for Elisha was quality and she got on the scoresheet herself. Great game and well played
